About the Conference

On October 20, 2024, the Deepak and Neera Raj Center on Indian Economic Policies hosted the Columbia India Forum 2024, a major conference at Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs. The event gathered leading economists, policy experts, and academics to discuss pressing topics shaping the future of India and the global economy.

The forum featured four main sessions:

• Global Economy: 2025 & Beyond, with panelists including David Mericle (Goldman Sachs), Tiago Severo (Bluecrest Capital), Devashish Mitra (Syracuse University), and moderator Poonam Gupta (NCAER).
• Keynote on Geo-Economic Fragmentation, presented by Anantha Nageswaran (Chief Economic Adviser, India) and chaired by Pravin Krishna (Johns Hopkins University).
• India’s Digital Finance Revolution, featuring Viral Acharya (NYU), Amiyatosh Purnanandam (University of Michigan), and Nikita Aggarwal (University of Miami School of Law—Moderator).
• How Will AI Transform Indian Jobs?, with Marina Tavares (IMF), Michal Fabinger (Vedian College), and Vishal Misra (Columbia University).

The Forum also included networking opportunities like breakfast, lunch, and a reception, and encouraged attendees to register via a QR code. The event brought together thought leaders to analyze significant economic, technological, and policy shifts impacting India and its global role.
